St. George Catholic Elementary School
Opened in March 2002, this new elementary school in Ridgeway established a strong new presence for the Niagara Catholic District School Board in Fort Erie. Delivered at a cost of $200k below budget, this project none the less incorporates a two storey lobby filled with natural light through a fully encompassing curtain wall, as well as a full size daycare component. Nestled within protected Carolinian forest tree species, it also demonstrates a renewed sensitivity to building responsibly within the environment. These natural elements are also reflected in the choice of building components, such as exposed parallam wood beams and the natural colours used for the building’s finishes.
