Connaught Public School Alterations

St. Catharines, Ontario

Completed in February 2003, this upgrade to Connaught Public School came in at almost $300k under budget. The scope included a complete interior finish makeover along with a complete mechanical and electrical upgrade. New washrooms were installed in the original section of the school which dates back to 1910. A number of room usages were shuffled around with a new larger office area being created at the main entrance to replace the cramped office down the hall. The interior was renovated with new doors, coat racks, washroom fixtures and counters, blackboards, ceilings and a new central convenience stair. The fire separations of all corridors were upgraded and all sections of the school were compartmentalized with new fire doors. All floor and ceiling finishes were replaced, with the entire school receiving a new colour scheme to brighten up the building. Work to the exterior included all new doors, a new parking area and a new fire access route.
